Sample Curriculum

Provided here are 9 weeks of lesson plans and schedules for 3 class types. This model will make the most sense if you are already familiar with the teaching practices from the workshops I have presented or from reading Simple Solutions. Because so many people have asked, I created this model to show how these elements can work together in the classroom. The live links take you to the actual lessons or references for the lessons.

This is adaptable for 6-12 grades. The activities can remaing the same, the content simply changes depending on the level of student you teach. Below you can see the overall scope of what can be covered in a year.

These lessons cover all the Common Core Standards. The testing activities are related to the FCAT (Florida's State Testing). The intention is to provide activities that save YOU time and ENGAGE students all the while providing a rigorous curriculum that connects with the new Common Core Standards.

If you use this model, I would love to know what you think. Especially if there are areas that need improvement / revision, please email me and let me know. It is a work in progress as teaching always is.

This document provides a Year-at-a-Glance for what can be covered in the daily 50 minute class or the 90 minute A/B block (meeting every other day) With the daily 90 minute classes you can accomplish even more. This comes down to where time is spent in the classroom. The outcomes for this model are pretty rigorous and they don't take into account the days out of the class for data-driven testing.  A blank page is at the bottom of each sample schedule so you can adapt the schedule as you need to.
